The tip is cut wide rather than needle-sharp, so it is a shape a small hand can actually fill. The barrel runs diagonally from corner to corner and carries a band near the eraser end. Two areas, both big. Pencils are yellow in most pictures and almost never in real pencil cases, which is worth mentioning to anyone who assumes there is a right answer.
