Three broad bands cross the bee’s body, and they are the natural place to start. The hive behind it is drawn as stacked curves, which gives a run of long shapes to work through in order. One flower balances the composition at the other side. Yellow and black is what most children reach for, though the hive is a good excuse to bring in a third color.
